Fluctuating prices of petrol and diesel
has made the car buyers more worried as they have now started with the
research work to buy the suitable running machine. Nowadays people have
started looking for those cars which offer not only upscale comforts,
but also have great fuel efficiency. In last five years, the Indian car
manufacturers are working consistently to introduce most fuel efficient cars.
Earlier, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors used to solely rule the
domestic automobile industry, but now more auto-manufacturers are
showcasing some exotic cars that deliver exceptional mileage. We have
brought an exclusive collection of latest top five most fuel efficient cars in India, and surprisingly there are some new entrants not expected to be in this list.
1)Tata Nano 2012 (Mileage 25.4 km/L)
– Leaving behind Chevrolet Beat, Tata Nano 2012 is back on the #1 spot
in terms of fuel efficiency. Recently, the company introduced, Tata Nano
2012 on the domestic shores that is more refined and more fuel
efficient than its previous variants. The Nano 2012 has ARAI mileage of
25.4 km/l, which makes it more economical and efficient. The all new
Tata Nano 2012 is loaded with a 624 cc, 2 cylinder MPFI petrol engine
that has caliber to toss maximum power of 38 PS at 5500 rpm with the
maximum torque being 51 Nm at 4000 rpm.
2) Tata Indica e-V2 and Indigo e-CS (Mileage 25 km/L)
– It’s Tata again with its marathon cars Tata Indica eV2 and Indigo
eCS. Packed with 1400 cc CR4 diesel engine, the duo belt out 70 bhp of
top power and 140 Nm of peak torque. Boasting oodles of space inside the
cabin, seating arrangement of both cars have enough room for
comfortable seating. Overall styling of the cars is sober but sometimes
feels downmarket compared to its rivals in the auto market. Mileage of
the eV2 and eCS is approximately 25 km/l.
3) Chevrolet Beat Diesel (Mileage 24 km/L)
– With the launch of Tata Nano 2012, the Chevy Beat diesel has dropped
down on second spot in the most fuel efficient cars’ race. Chevrolet
Beat Diesel has fuel economy of 24 kmpl as per ARAI. From the point of
styling and comforts, Chevrolet Beat Diesel is no doubt a better option
over Tata Nano 2012, but its pricing is too high than Tata Nano.
Chevrolet Beat diesel is loaded with a 1.0 liter XSDE SMARTECH diesel
engine that distinct this car in terms of fuel efficiency.
4) Hyundai Verna (Mileage 23.5 km/L for 1.4 litre diesel and 22.32 km/L for 1.6 litre diesel) –
Surprisingly
entering into the hatchback ruled region, Hyundai Verna diesel has been
the fourth contender in the list of most fuel efficient cars in the
country. Hyundai have learned this lesson pretty well that if you have
to succeed in the Indian auto market you got to pay attention to the
fuel efficiency part because the second question after the price is
‘kitna deti hai’. Hyundai Verna returns with overall mileage of 23.5
km/l with 1.4 litre diesel engine and 22.32 km/l with 1.6 litre diesel
engine.
5) Nissan Micra diesel (Mileage 23.08 km/L)
– Nissan Micra races in front of conventional fuel efficiency rulers
like the Maruti Alto, Hyundai i10, etc to bag the fifth spot in the most
fuel economic cars of the country. Under the stylish hood of Micra
diesel rests a 1461 cc 4-cylinder k9k engine which churns maximum power
of 64 bhp along with generating peak torque of 160 Nm. Besides its cute
and appealing looks, Micra embraces good space and comfort inside its
cabin. Nissan Micra diesel mileage is 23.08 kmpl
